studio classico is a creative studio in the field of architecture, based in Paris & Marseille, run by Suleïma Ben Achour. Its practice seeks to overcome the often opposing tensions between form and function in architecture by weaving applied arts and a certain sense of subjectivity into its process — blurring the boundaries between disciplines. Like a classico in football, where rivals face off, the studio invites architecture and the applied arts to meet — not in opposition, but in dialogue, in an attempt to generate singular spaces. Choices are dictated by a reflection on use and function, but also by the expressiveness of existing materials and local craftsmanship, which reflect the studio’s ethical and environmental standards.
